The 2021 Pinot Noir Sisters blossoms in the glass with woodland berries and herbs complicated by allspice and clove. The palate is round and supple with cooling acidity and ripe wild berries cascading throughout leaving a sweet spice tinge toward the close. This finishes with remarkable freshness a gentle sour citrus twang and slowly fading hints of red plum. The 2021 is already showing beautifully but there?s the balance to excel over the next five to seven years of cellaring. - By Eric Guido on January 2024 The Eyrie Vineyards Pinots are some of the clearest interpretations of the variety in Oregon. Each wine communicates a sense of place and varietal purity before anything else. While incredibly easy to appreciate in their youth the wines also have a track record of maturing beautifully over the course of decades. Jason Lett?s 2021s are no different. The wines are crisp and refreshing vividly fruit-focused gently tannic and full of tension and energy. I highly recommend tasting at least one bottle now to enjoy the primary fruit while laying the rest down to appreciate over time. That said the star of the show was the 2018 South Block. Frankly the complexity in this glass is off the charts although slightly veiled by its youthful exuberance. No collector of Oregon Pinot Noir should pass up the chance to add it to their cellar.

The translucent ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Sisters is delicately floral and spicy with aromas of rose petal fresh raspberry and fresh baking spices. Medium-bodied and lifted with fine tannins and fresh acidity it?s long on the palate with a fresh. Lingering. rosy perfume and a clean lift off the finish. It?s attractive now and will continue to drink well over the coming 6-8 years. The 2021 releases from The Eyrie were tasted at the winery and tasting room in McMinnville with owner and winemaker Jason Lett. In addition to producing some of the benchmark Pinot Gris Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley they produce a wide range from Trousseau to Pinot Meunier to explore. Having only tasted out of barrel the previous year I was especially impressed with the range of 2021 Pinot Noir from the estate. Annual production is at approximately 10000 cases using 95% estate-grown fruit.
